Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At Conrad Rehling Alabama Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished seventh out of 13 teams Sunday (March 16) at the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational at the Capstone Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Spartans shot a final round score of 288 on Sunday and finished with a three-round score of 880 (302-290-288). Auburn won the tournament with a score of 857 (284-286-287). James Lepp of Illinois took medalist honors with a 2-under par, score of 213 (73-68-70).
Michigan State was led by junior Ben Fox (Fort Wayne, Ind.), who carded a final round score of 73 for the day. Fox finished the tournament with a three-round score of 218 (73-72-73), good for a share of 13th place.
Rising sophomore Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.) carded a team-best 69 in the final round and finished with a three-round score of 221 (78-74-69) to tie for 20th place. Senor All-American Eric Jorgensen (Big Rapids, Mich.) recorded a final round score of 73. Jorgensen's tournament score of 224 (76-75-73) included a hole in one on the par three, 18th hole during Saturday's (March 15) second round.
Junior J.J. Beckstrom (North Muskegon, Mich.) also shot a final round of 73 for the day. Beckstrom finished with a tournament score of 227 (75-79-73). Fellow junior Casey Lubahn (Sand Lake, Mich.) recorded a 79 for the day and finished with a final tournament score of 229 (81-69-79).
Michigan State returns to action March 24-25 at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
