Coaches' Post-Game Quotes
Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo
"I thought they really took it to us. We just did not come out and check like I thought we could. They made some shots, but we knew they could make those shots. I thought we really clamped down about the four or five minute mark in the game and played well defensively against a strong offensive team. Kelvin Torbert, Maurice Ager...everybody did things well tonight. We let up a little bit at the end, and give them credit, they didn't quit. I was a little disappointed that we gave up three after three after three. There were some encouraging things. In the first half we had 14 baskets and 12 of them were assisted. We had three guys with five assists. We got the ball inside in a variety of different ways. I thought they executed well when they were out of timeouts.
"I give Mike Davis a lot of credit. They have had a tough non-conference schedule and he didn't lose his team. It was a big win for us and it was a big win because of the way we won it. I thought we checked well and we won it by the way we checked."
Indiana Coach Mike Davis
"I thank God for this opportunity. To be able to coach guys like we have here is definitely a pleasure for me. Michigan State is really good. I told my guys that before the game that we would have to play tough basketball. I thought we fought hard in the first half, we gave it everything we had, but they were a little stronger than us. They made big shots. Paul Davis' performance speaks for himself, with 32 points. We have nobody that can guard him."
On Paul Davis and George Leach
"George (Leach) is shot blocker, so when you're a shot blocker you play behind guys. He can get away with that against an average player. But, Paul Davis is really, really good. It was really a learning experience for George. He picked up two fouls early and we really need George in the game because he gives us an inside presence."
