EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team lost to Oakland, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Rochester, Mich. With the loss, MSU falls to 7-4, while Oakland improves to 8-2-1. The three-goal deficit is the largest margin of defeat for the Spartans this season.
In the first half, MSU outshot OU, 6-3, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Golden Grizzlies, however, made the most of their opportunities, scoring two goals on their three shots. Oakland struck early when Shahar Ktovim scored an unassisted goal less than four minutes into the game. Chris Edwards scored in the 26th minute to increase the OU lead to 2-0 at the half. Edwards put the game away in the 80th minute, scoring his second goal of the game.
For the game, MSU outshot OU, 13-9, but Oakland goalkeeper Jeff Wiese recorded seven saves in the shutout.
Michigan State returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 17 against Michigan in Ann Arbor at 2 p.m.
