EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's swimming and diving opens the Big Ten dual meet portion of its schedule Wednesday, Oct. 27, against No. 16 Michigan at 6 p.m. at the Charles McCaffree Pool, located in the IM West Building.
"It is really tough to start our Big Ten schedule against the defending champs, but I think our team will accept the challenge," said MSU head coach Matt Gianiodis.
The Spartans dropped their season opener at Kentucky, 150-90, on Oct. 23. Junior Courtney Ellabarger captured first place in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.71). Juniors Katrina Kniff and Marsena Vranesic, sophomore Megan Reponen and freshman Amanda Wyman combined to win the 400 freestyle relay for MSU (3:41.06).
Michigan comes into East Lansing with a No. 16 ranking in the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, released Oct. 22. The Wolverines fell to third-ranked Florida, 164-131, at home on Oct. 23.
