Duo Selected To CoSIDA Academic At-Large All-District Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior golfer Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and senior Stacey Hicks (Bryan, Ohio), a member of the crew team, have been selected to the CoSIDA Women's At-Large Academic All-District IV Second Team. The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
Fouch, who carries a 3.51 GPA in chemistry, was a four-year letterwinner on the golf team. A four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Fouch earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors in 2004 to become just the fourth Spartan to earn All-Big Ten honors at least three times in her career. She was an All-Big Ten Second-Team honoree in 2003 and received All-Big Ten accolades in 2002. In addition, she earned All-America Honorable Mention distinction by the National Golf Coaches Association.
Fouch, who posted the second-lowest stroke average in school history with a 75.00 as a senior in 2003-04, closed her four-year career with the second-lowest career average in MSU history with a 76.49. She finished tied for 16th at the 2004 NCAA Championships with the second-lowest 72-hole total in school history (291).
Hicks, who holds a 3.69 GPA in accounting, is a three-year Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors in 2004, after earning All-Big Ten kudos in 2002 and 2003. In addition, she was selected as the 2001 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Hicks, a member of the varsity eight boat that placed second at the 2004 Big Ten Championships and seventh in the regional championships. As a true freshman in 2001, she rowed on the Spartans' second varsity eight, which took first place at the 2001 Big Ten Championships in the petite final.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team is a part of the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.
