Basham Earns Spot On Big Ten Baseball All-Tournament Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State freshman left fielder Ryan Basham (Lowell, Ind.) was named to the Big Ten Baseball All-Tournament Team. In three games last week, Basham hit .500 (6-for-12), with one double, scoring one run and driving in two. Michigan State went 1-2 in the tournament, falling to Purdue (May 26), 6-5, in the opening game, before defeating Penn State (May 27), 8-7, in an elimination game. The Spartans were eliminated from the tournament with an 8-3 loss to Ohio State (May 28).
Against Purdue, Basham was 3-for-5 at the plate. His most productive game was a 2-for-3 effort vs. Penn State, driving in two runs and scoring one. In addition to his two doubles, he also walked twice. In the Ohio State contest, Basham was 1-for-4.
Basham finished the season with a .297 batting average, hitting eight home runs, driving in 27 runs and scoring 32. With 15 doubles, he tied for second on the squad. He started 53 games and committed only one error.
