EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior relief pitcher Adam White (Jenison, Mich.) has been named to the All-Mideast Region second team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced. White was the lone MSU representative from the two-team all-region squad that included 10 players from the Mid-American Conference, nine from the Big Ten, five from the Big East and two from the Horizon League.
White, who was a first-team All-Big Ten honoree and Michigan State's co-MVP, led MSU in wins with a 5-1 record and in saves with six while posting a 3.00 earned run average. White threw 45 innings in 23 appearances, all in relief, and allowed 45 hits while striking out 40 batters. His numbers in Big Ten games were even more impressive this season, as all five of his wins and five of his six saves came in league games, and he had a 0.98 ERA while striking out 27 hitters in 27.2 inning pitched. In conference games, he tied for the Big Ten lead in saves and was tied for second in wins.
White's 23 appearances tied for sixth most in a single season in MSU history, as did his six saves.
Michigan State finished the 2004 season with a 33-26 overall record, including a 19-13 mark in the Big Ten which was good for a tie for third. The 33 victories were the sixth most in MSU history, while the 19 Big Ten wins were a new MSU single-season record.
