Hockey Inks Bryan Lerg To National Letter Of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State hockey coach Rick Comley has added another player for the 2004-05 season as forward Bryan Lerg (Livonia, Mich.) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Spartan program in the fall.

Spent two years (2002-04) with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. ... Member of the U.S. National Under-18 Team in 2003-04 ... Appeared in 57 games, scoring 27 goals and adding 32 assists for 59 points ... Among his 27 goals were eight power-play markers, three shorthanded tallies and four game winners ... Won a silver medal at the 2004 IIHF World U-18 Championship ... Totaled two goals and six assists at the World Championship, including a game-winner and a power-play marker ... Member of the U.S. National Under-17 Team in 2002-03 ... Won a gold medal at the Four Nations Cup in Ann Arbor ... Played in 65 games, scoring 21 goals and adding 18 assists for 39 points ... Teammate of Spartan sophomore defenseman A.J. Thelen with the U.S. Under-17 team ... Played for Detroit Honeybaked Midget Major in 2001-02 ... Averaged over a point per game with 47 goals and 28 assists for 75 points in 68 games ... Father Dan Lerg played hockey at Michigan from 1977-80 ... Uncle Ken Lerg played hockey at Ohio State from 1969-72.
Lerg joins forwards Peder Skinner (Isle-aux-Morts, Newfoundland/St. Michael's Buzzers), Jim McKenzie (Woodbury, Minn./Sioux Falls Stampede), Chris Mueller (West Seneca, N.Y./Buffalo Saints) and defensemen Jeff Dunne (Grover, Mo./Chicago Steel) and Daniel Vukovic (North York, Ont./ St. Michael's Buzzers) who have already signed National Letters of Intent.
