EAST LANSING, Mich. - MSU women's crew will compete in five fall regattas for the 2004 distance racing season, the crew program announced Monday.
Fall racing entails a 3-mile racecourse and serves to prepare the team for sprint racing in the spring, which is the primary season for collegiate rowing.
Fall competition begins on Sept. 19 with a matchup against Eastern Michigan and Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. for the varsity squad.
Next, the Spartans host the Head of the Grand Regatta in Lansing on Oct. 17, which marks State's only home meet of the fall season and the first competitive racing opportunity for the novice squad.
After that, MSU travels to Elkhart, Indiana for the Head of the Elk Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The fall season concludes with two regattas on Sunday, Nov. 7, when the varsity squad heads to Princeton N.J. to compete in the Princeton Chase and the novice squad takes on a slew of opponents at the Heritage Fall Classic in Wyandotte, Mich.
