Spartan Men 15th At Pre-NCAA Meet

Terre Haute, Ind. - The Michigan State men's cross country team finished 15th in the White Division at the Pre-NCAA meet, on Saturday, Oct. 15, with an average time of 25:05. Nathan Egger (Bath, Mich.) paced the Spartans with a 44th place finish in a time of 24:36.0 as all five MSU scorers finished just 1:02 seconds apart.
Jim Pancoast (Stevensville, Mich) crossed the finish line ten seconds after Egger in 58th place, Nick Oertel (Goodrich, Mich.) was 74th with a time of 24:55.0, Robert Sherman (Grand Ledge, Mich.) placed 124th in 25:27.0 and Justin Zonotti (Chesterfield, Mich.) was 149th to round out the scorers for the Spartan men.
The Green and White, who entered the weekend ranked 38th in the nation finished ahead of 19 teams including Big Ten rival Illinois. Colorado captured the divisional race with a team total of 2:00:25.
Michigan State returns to action on Friday, Oct. 21 when it heads to Ypsilanti, Mich. to compete in the EMU Invitational. That race will be the team's final tune up before heading to the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis on Oct. 30.
