Men's Track And Field Completes Action At NCAA Regionals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Michigan State men's track and field team completed the action at the second and final day of the NCAA Mideast Regional at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University.
Mike Palmer and Mark Langlois both excelled in the pole vault for MSU, tying for third place while making their bids for spots in the NCAA Championships. Both cleared their first height on the third attempt, then vaulted 16-7 1/4 on the first try before faltering at the next level. The two earned 11 points for MSU in the team standings, which was enough for MSU to finish in 22nd place.
In the 5,000-meter run, Steve Sherer placed 13th out of 31 runners, posting a time of 14:22.36. Julien Williams was the only other Spartan to compete Saturday, finishing a disappointing tied for 15th with a leap of 23-2.
The NCAA Championships will be held June 8-11 in Sacramento, Calif.
