Women' Tennis Closes Out Play At Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill.--The Michigan State women's tennis team completed the third and final day of play at the Wildcat Invitational on Sunday, coming away with wins in five of their eight matches. Senior Pascale Schnitzer and sophomore Stephanie Kebler fought their way to victory in singles and doubles.
In singles, Michigan State had wins in four of five contests played. Kebler defeated Alyssa Palen of Illinois State University in two sets (6-4, 6-2). Schnitzer also won in two sets against Ashley Jakupcin of Bowling Green (6-2, 6-2). Michigan State freshman Christine Milliken defeated Dori Losonczy of DePaul (6-1, 6-2), and sophomore Marianne Eelens also won over Maria Caujolle of Indiana State (6-2, 61). Sarah Andrews had the lone loss, in a tough three-set match against Lubica Nadasska of UIC (4-6, 6-2, 6-4).
In doubles, the Spartans took one of the three matches played, with Kebler and Schnitzer defeating Grace Gil-Morlish and Jenna Reisch of UIC (8-3). Andrews and Ana Milosavljevic were defeated by Kristen Gambrell and Dunja Antonovic of DePaul (8-5) and Eelens and Milliken were defeated (8-1) by Anja Mihaldinec and Petra Rehusova, also of DePaul.
Up next, Michigan State will play host to the ITA Midwest Regional Championship from Oct. 19-24 at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
