EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swimming and diving team completed day three of the Big Ten Championships, hosted by the Ohio State University. After placing sixth in the 1-meter competition a day ago, sophomore Danielle Williams added another top-ten finish, placing ninth in the 3-meter board. In the lanes, freshman Heather Kiluk and senior Rachael Hagerman both scored NCAA `B' qualifying times. The Spartans currently sit in 11th place with 85 points.
"There are a lot of good teams, coaches and facilities," head coach Matt Gianiodis commented. Danielle (Williams) had another fantastic day and I am really happy for Rachael (Hagerman) and Heather (Kiluk). Overall I am pleased with our performance, we are really swimming well, but its frustrating because we aren't scoring a lot of points."
Improving five spots from her 14th place finish in the Big Ten meet in 2005, Danielle Williams took ninth in the 3-meter diving event, tallying 285.50. It was Williams' second top-ten finish of the championships, having taken sixth in the 1-meter competition on day two. Freshman Alycia Mokedanz also faired well in the event, taking 17th with a score of 257.00.
Posting NCAA `B' qualifying times in each of their respective events, Heather Kiluk took 12th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:22.55 and Rachael Hagerman took 15th in the 100 fly, touching at 55.87. Senior Courtney Ellabarger and junior Carly Zenk each picked up 16th place finishes. Ellabager completed the 100 breast in 1:06.43, while Zenk hit the wall in the 100 back in 57.25.
