
Maurice Ager To Compete In College Basketball Slam Dunk Championship

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior guard Maurice Ager (Detroit, Mich.) will compete in the dunk contest at The College Basketball Slam Dunk and 3-Point Shooting Championships, held Thursday, March 30 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the Butler University campus. In addition to the dunk contest, the event will feature 3-point shootouts for both men and women, including Michigan State's Lindsay Bowen. The competition will start at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN at 9 p.m.
Ager will be competing against Rodney Carney of Memphis, Vincent Grier of Minnesota, Errol Knight of Gonzaga, David Noel of North Carolina, James White of Cincinnati, Elgrace Wilborn of Western Kentucky and Lawrence Wright of Bradley. Among the celebrity judges for the slam dunk competition will be Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl linebacker Cato June and Indiana high school legend, Bobby Plump, who took Milan High School to the 1954 state championship and was immortalized on screen as Jimmy Chitwood in the classic 1986 film, "Hoosiers."
An Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and a second-team All-Big Ten honoree, Ager led the conference in scoring this past season, averaging 19.3 points per game. He also paced the team with 23 dunks, and averaged career highs in both rebounds (4.1 rpg) and assists (2.5 apg).
