
Rowing Heads To Chicago For Final Fall Races

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's rowing team will compete in its final race of the fall, traveling to the Chicago Head Race on Sunday, Nov. 3. The varsity competition will feature Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, while the novice programs include Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
The varsity boats will begin at 10:10 a.m. in head races, and the novice boats will compete immediately afterward at 10:40 a.m. The top two boats and the next six best times will advance for the 2,000-meter race, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Driving directions for the Chicago Head Race are as follows:
1. Take I-294 or I-57 to 127th Street Exit.
2. Head East to Ashland (five miles or so from I-294, two blocks from I-57).
3. South across the river, past the first light (Broadway), and make a quick left on Aulwurm.
4. Aulwurm is maybe 200 yards long and ends at Jackson. Go left on Jackson.
5. Approximately 100 yards down Jackson, the park entrance is on the left. Drive through the small parking lot for 100 yards, and then go right to the big parking lot. Michigan State will have spaces marked for traveling fans.
