
No. 21 Oklahoma Defeats Spartan Baseball, 7-2

NORMAN, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Michigan State baseball team, 7-2, Saturday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Spartans (6-7) were limited to five hits in the game as OU starter Heath Taylor (4-0) struck out 11 in eight innings of work. Game three of the series, which is tied at one game apiece, is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
The Spartans scored an unearned run in the third to go up 1-0, but the Sooners (16-6) bounced back with two in the third off MSU starter Jon Kibler to take the lead 2-1. Kibler (1-2) gave up two more runs in the sixth and was pulled from the game with one out in the inning.
Oklahoma extended its lead to 7-2 with three runs in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Ryan MacFarlane.
Kyle Day went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Spartans, while Steve Gerstenberger, Justin Potes and John Lee all collected a hit each.
