EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State swimming and diving coach Matt Gianiodis announced the signing of three additional members to the class of 2011. Kevin Puskaric (Mokena, Ill.), Colby Ward (Rochester Hills, Mich.), and Rebecca Ebner (Okemos, Mich.) have signed National Letters of Intent to compete at MSU beginning in the fall of 2007. The group joins Courtney Roberts, Stephanie Fisher, Alexandra Dockstader, Jordan Jackson, Mark Healey, and Ricky Forrest who signed with Michigan State during the fall signing period to join the MSU squad for the 2007-08 academic year. With this solid group of recruits, Gianiodis and his staff will look to build off of the success of this season's freshman class.
"This year, we had to extend our recruiting for 2007 into the summer," Gianiodis said. "We are very happy with the kids who committed and we feel on the men's side, we have filled in some of the holes in our lineup. We are hoping this year's class will mesh with last year's class and give us a solid foundation."
Kevin Puskaric (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East)
"Kevin had a great senior year, finishing as the Illinois state runner-up in the 100 breaststroke. He also had a great drop (in time) in his 200 breaststroke. A relatively new swimmer, he began swimming as a high school freshman. He is going to have a chance to step in and swim on relays right away. He intends to major in building construction management."
Colby Ward (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams)
"Colby swims for the Oakland Live Y'ers. He is a very versatile swimmer and good distance swimmer. He has qualified for the Junior Nationals in the distance events."
Rebecca Ebner (Okemos, Mich./Okemos)
"I have known Becca since she was 8 years old. She has grown up here in our outdoor pool. A multiple state finalist in the butterfly events, we are hoping she comes to Michigan State and develops her skills to become a solid Big Ten swimmer."
