Jeamie Deacon Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

Jeamie Deacon had two goals and an assist as the Spartans went 2-0 over the weekend.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Jeamie Deacon of the Michigan State field hockey team was named today as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. She also earned a place on the womensfieldhockey.com weekly honor roll for the second straight week.

The native of Wexford, Ireland had two goals and an assist in a pair of games as the Spartans went 2-0 for the week and improved to 4-0 for the season. She had a goal and an assist on Friday in a 5-1 win over Miami (OH), before scoring the first and game-winning goal for the Spartans in a 3-0 shutout win over No. 20 Boston University.

Last week, Deacon compiled nine shots, two goals and an assist as MSU won the Champions Invitational Tournament.

For the season, Deacon leads the Spartans high-scoring attack with 15 shots, four goals and 10 points. She currently leads the Big Ten in shots, is tied for the conference lead in goals and ranks tied for second in points.
