MSU Basketball Notes
* Michigan State leads the all-time series with Wichita State, 4-3. The two teams last met in the 2005 Spartan Clash at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, with MSU claiming an 83-64 victory over a Shocker squad that later advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
* Raymar Morgan is averaging 24.0 points in Michigan State's three wins. In the team's lone loss he was limited to just four points in 14 minutes against Maryland after finding himself in foul trouble for much of the contest.
* Coming off the bench for just the fourth time in his career, Raymar Morgan scored a season-high 29 points, including 20 in the second half. He is the first Spartan since Drew Neitzel (Feb. 3, 2007 vs. Ohio State) to score 20 points in a half.
* One day after shooting 12-of-27 at the foul line against Maryland, the Spartans shot 19-of-26 from the line, led by Raymar Morgan, who knocked down 11-of-13 attempts.
* Through four games, Kalin Lucas boasts a Big Ten-best 8.7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, totaling 26 assists and just three turnovers. Lucas recorded his first career double-double against Oklahoma State dishing out a career-best 10 assists to go along with his 12 points.
* After shooting just 1-of-6 in the first two games of the season, Travis Walton is averaging 16.0 points in the last two games, shooting 15-of-20 from the field.
* Freshman Draymond Green is averaging 7.0 rebounds in two games of the Old Spice Classic. Against Oklahoma State, he grabbed a game-high eight boards.
* Delvon Roe and Durrell Summers made their first career starts against Oklahoma State.
* Marquise Gray scored 12 points against Oklahoma State, marking his first double-figure scoring effort since scoring 15 against IPFW on Dec. 15, 2007. The Spartans are 14-1 all-time when Gray scores in double figures.
* MSU is 79-24 all-time in November.
* Through four games, red-shirt freshman Austin Thornton is averaging 4.0 points per game and is a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Thornton is averaging 7.0 minutes off the Spartan bench.
* Goran Suton has missed the last two games with a left knee sprain.
* Michigan State outscored Oklahoma State, 44-22, and 14-4 on the fast break.
* Michigan State is competing in an in-season tournament for the fifth consecutive season and the 10th time in 14 years under Coach Tom Izzo.
* Michigan State is averaging just 12.5 turnovers, compared to 13.6 last season, which was the lowest average of the Tom Izzo era. In the last two games, the Spartans are averaging 15.5 turnovers. Although the Spartans committed a season-high 16 turnovers against Oklahoma State, they forced the Cowboys to commit 18 of their own.
