
Spartans Earn Top Seeds In Big Ten Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Big Ten Conference announced the seedings for the 2008 Women's Rowing Championships, which will be held Saturday, May 3 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Spartans' varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight crews all earned the No. 1 seed in their races, while the second varsity eight and second varsity four boats are the No. 2 seeds. MSU's second varsity eight boat is the fifth seed.
Michigan State is ranked sixth nationally in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing's most recent rankings, released April 23.
The Spartans finished fourth last year at the Big Ten Championships with 102 points. The varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity eight crews finished third, while the second varsity four and novice eight boats finished fourth.
Action begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m., with the second novice eight races. The full tournament schedule is available at www.bigten.com.
