TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Michigan State cross country team traveled to Indiana State University for Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 17. Finishing 11th for the women was redshirt junior Emily MacLeod, leading the Spartans to a 10th-place team finish in the Blue race, with her time of 20:47.2
"Emily definitely ran a good race for us," said director of cross country and track & field Walt Drenth. "She is proving that she can be one of the top runners in the conference this season."
Turning in a time of 21:40.9, and finishing 42nd overall, was sophomore Carlie Green. Sophomore Tiffany Abrahamian turned in the Spartans' third best time with 21:50.9, finishing 68th overall.
Colorado finished first in the women's blue heat with a team score of 94 points, with senior Jenny Barringer turning in the fastest time with 19:50.9
On the men's side, MSU was paced by junior Patrick Grosskopf, finishing with a time of 24:49.4 for 62nd-place overall. Junior Spencer Beatty clocked a time of 24:52.6, while freshman Ben Miller crossed the line in 25:19.7.
Oregon led the men's blue heat with Luke Puskedra finishing first overall with a time of 23:40.2, and a team score of 79 points.
MSU is back in action on Friday, Oct. 23, when they will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the EMU Open. Races are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
