Michigan State extended its Breslin Center non-conference winning streak to 40 games.
Michigan State improves to 93-18 all-time in home openers, winning the last 33.
Six Spartan players scored 10 or more points led by junior Kalin Lucas' 21.
Sophomore Draymond Green recorded his second career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman Derrick Nix also recorded a double-double tallying 11 points and 14 rebounds. Nix's 14 rebounds were the most for a freshman in a debut game besting the previous mark set by Matt Steigenga who had 10 in 1988.
Junior Kalin Lucas had a team-high 21 points, his 11th career 20 plus point scoring game. Michigan State is 8-3 in those games.
Junior Durrell Summers recorded 17 points, his 23rd career double-figure scoring game.
The win was the 337th of Coach Izzo's career. Izzo needs only three more wins to tie the school-record for career victories.
Tom Izzo improved to 35-0 all-time at home in November.
Today's game marked the first meeting between the two programs.
