
Track & Field Concludes Season at NCAA Indoor Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. - The 2008-09 Michigan State track & field program wrapped up its indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas on Friday. In all, four Spartans - Shane Knoll (Warren, Mich.), Emily MacLeod (Cincinnati, Ohio), Jeremy Orr (Detroit, Mich.) and Lisa Senakiewich (Davison, Mich.) - competed in day-one competition, which consists of preliminary heats of each track event and finals in select events. The Spartans failed to qualify anyone for competition on day two, ending the Spartans' indoor season.
First up were the milers on the women's side, Senakiewich and MacLeod, in the first race of the day. MacLeod finished 16th with a time of 4:48.19 while Senakiewich finished 17th with a time of 4:50.19. Each of their times failed to qualify for tomorrow's championship race. Knoll, the USTFCCCA's Great Lakes Regional Track Athlete of the Year, ran next for the Spartans in the men's mile. Knoll finished the preliminary heat in 4:05.05, placing him 12th in the event, failing to qualify for tomorrow's championship race.
Rounding out the competition was Orr, who ran in the men's 400m dash. After clocking in at 47.12, Orr also failed to qualify for the 400m final. His time ranked ninth, just outside of the top eight, which move on to the finals tomorrow. Orr's time was 0.02 away from qualifying.
