EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Nolan Moody added to his list of accolades after throwing the school's first no- hitter in more than 16 years on Saturday (April 4) in the opening game at McLane Baseball Stadium and being named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on Monday. This week Moody garnered the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pro-Line Athletic National Pitcher of the Week, was named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Louisville Slugger's National Players of the Week list and was also named to the College Baseball Foundation's National All-Star Lineup.
"They are great honors and I'm really proud," said Moody. "It's great to get national recognition because people notice the team. The win (no-hitter) and the series win was a team-win so you don't want that to get overlooked as well."
The NCBWA, founded in 1962, reviews candidates each week from each Division I conference and names winners each week throughout the season. The College Baseball Foundation selects the top performers from around the country each week.
Moody's no-hitter was the first by a Spartan since Dan Garman on March 28, 1993 and was the first in the Big Ten since 2006.
