Bill Mansfield Inducted Into Madison Sports Hall of Fame

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Michigan State baseball player Bill Mansfield, who played for the Green and White in 1954, 1955 and 1957, has been inducted into the Madison (WI) Sports Hall of Fame.
Mansfield posted a career record of 3-4 in his three seasons at MSU and played an integral role as a freshman on the 1954 squad that took third place at the College World Series as he went 3-0 and posted a 2.57 ERA.
In 36.1 innings pitched during the 1957 season, the Madison, Wis., native posted 1.48 ERA which still ranks as the fifth lowest in MSU history.
Mansfield attended Madison West High School where he was a part of the 1952 state championship squad.
Upon graduating from MSU, Mansfield went on to earn advanced degrees from Oregon and Wisconsin.
