Men's Tennis Concludes Action at Frank Beeman Invite

The Michgian State men's tennis team concluded play at the Frank Beeman Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Michigan State Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Spartans captured two of the three singles flights during the weekend.
After junior Clark Richardson (Leawood, Kan.) won the final match in the Flight C championship, 6-2, 6-4, over teammate freshman Christian Roehmer (Mount Pleasant, Mich.), senior Jason Norville (Farmington Hills, Mich.) claimed the title in Flight B. Norville and freshman Will Davis (Louisville, Ky.) faced each other in the final match of Flight B, which saw Norville defeat Davis, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman Denis Bogatov (Gurnee, Ill.) competed in the final match of Flight A, but fell to Detroit's Peotre Necajevs, 6-3, 6-3.
Doubles action saw success from sophomore Austin Brooks (Houston, Texas) and junior John Stratton (Monroeville, N.J.), who defeated the pairing of Knot Likitkumchorn and Leo Sarria of the University of Toledo, 8-4.
In the backdraw, Stratton held Pat Hamning of Youngstown State to one point as he won, 6-1, 6-0. Senior Brendan Kinkopf (Cleveland, Ohio) posted a victory over Tore Waldhausen of Wright State University, 6-2, 7-6(6), while freshman Ronnie Hulewicz defeated Alex Latosinsky of Detroit, 7-6(4), 6-5.
The Spartans will continue fall play at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts Friday-Sunday, Oct. 9-11, as it hosts the Stan Drobac Invitational.
