
Women's Tennis Falls to UCF, 4-3

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team fell to UCF, 4-3, Friday, January 29, in Orlando, Fla. bringing them to 3-3 on the season.
The pairing of sophomore Elena Ivanova (Moscow, Russia) and freshman Michaela Silesova (Topolcany, Slavakia) earned the only win for the Green and White, at No. 2 doubles, after topping Rodriguez and Doerfler, 8-5.
Both Silesova and Ivanova picked up wins in singles, in addition to their victory in doubles action. Silesova defeated Rodriguez, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, and Ivanova took Orletsky into three matches as well, coming out with the 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 win.
Junior Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ind.) was the third Spartan to pick up a win in singles action after defeating Doerfler, 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-2.
Although freshman Amy Barton (Brisbane, Australia) fell to Yacaman, she fought through both sets, taking her opponent into a tie-breaker each set, 7-6(2), 7-6(5).
The Spartans will next take on Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. in Orlando, Fla.
