Ryan Jones Named Freshman All-American

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State second baseman Ryan Jones has been named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Collegiate Baseball announced Wednesday.
Jones, the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and second-team All-Big Ten selection, finished the regular season second on the team and sixth in the conference with a .380 batting average. The Haslett, Mich., native also collected 73 hits, including 12 doubles and four triples, while driving in 37 runs. He ranked ninth in the league with 140 assists and teamed up with shortstop Jonathan Roof to create one of the best middle infields in the Big Ten.
Jones was just the second Spartan to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and becomes the 11th Freshman All-American in program history.
