
Cross Country Travels to Wisconsin adidas Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - After having last weekend off from competition, the Michigan State cross country team returns to action this weekend when it travels to the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 2 in Madison, Wis. Racing at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course begins at 12 p.m. ET with the women's race followed by the men's contest at 12:45 p.m. ET.
Both the men's 8k race and the women's 6k race will feature six of the top-30 schools listed in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll.
Competing this weekend will be Air Force, Eastern Michigan (women), Florida, Georgetown (men), Harvard (women), Illinois, Indiana, IPFW, Kansas, Marquette, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Portland (women), Providence (men), Ohio State, Oklahoma (men), Princeton (men), Purdue, San Francisco (women), Syracuse, Texas A&M and the host Badgers.
This weekend will give the Spartans a glimpse of the Big Ten Championships course they will be running on later this fall as Wisconsin will also host the 2010 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The men remain 18th in the USTFCCCA weekly poll after finishing six Spartans in the top 10 two weeks ago, while the women are two spots behind in 20th position. Regionally, the women remain in first place in the weekly poll in the Great Lakes Region and the men remained in second behind Notre Dame in the Great Lakes Region.
