
Swimming & Diving Drops Dual Meet at Ohio State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State swimming & diving teams lost its dual meets at Ohio State on Saturday afternoon, with the men falling, 165-123 and the women losing, 131-114.
The Spartan men claimed the top four spots in both the 100 yard butterfly and the 400 yard free. Michael Uggeri (50.46) and Josh Geschwendt (51.79) took the top spots in the 100 fly, while Ricky Forrest (4:42.36) and Bryan Williams (4:46.76) touched first in the 400 free.
MSU also had the top-three times in the 200 yard IM with Nick Roberts (1:57.87) and Cameron Barlett (2:01.71) leading the way.
The Spartans' 200 yard freestyle relay of Jacob Jarzen, Geschwendt, Brandon Williams and Bryan Williams, took first with a time of 1:24.43.
Kevin Puskaric claimed two second place finishes on the afternoon in the 100 yard breast (56.05) and 200 yard breast (2:00.50). Meanwhile, Jarzen was second in the 200 yard free (1:40.22).
Leading the MSU divers, Ivan Zalessov was first in the 1-meter board with 336.53 points.
The Spartan women had five first place showings on the afternoon. Jenny Rusch touched first in the 50 yard free (24.02), while Kerry Sodonis was first in the 100 yard breast (1:06.26).
MSU claimed the top-four times in the 100 yard butterfly with Becca Ebner (56.61) and Jessica Wellick (59.43) leading the finishes. The Spartans also had the top three in the 200 yard IM, led by Alexandra Pierce (2:10.75) and Lauren Baisden (2:13.21).
Michigan State was also first in the 200 yard free relay (1:35.97) with the combination of Rusch, Brooke Telander, Samantha Hilk and Morgan Piasecki.
The Spartan women return to action on Friday, Jan. 28 when they host Michigan at 6 p.m.
