Men's Tennis Concludes Day One at ITA Regionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team concluded day one action at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, with junior Will Davis still in contention to participate in the singles main draw.
Davis earned two victories to advance to the qualifying match, as he defeated Erik Frinkenbrink of Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first round 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), followed by a convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory over Matt Ford of Cleveland State to advance to the third round. Davis will face Alex Latosinsky of Detroit tomorrow for a chance to earn a spot in the main singles draw.
Sophomore Drew Lied earned a victory in the first round over Tariq Ismail of Youngstown State 6-2, 6-4 before falling in the second round to Felix Goepper of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Freshmen Harry Jadun and junior Chrisitan Roehmer both suffered first-round losses to Appaneruvanda of Illinois State and Matt Kuelker of Cleveland State respectively.
The Spartans will continue action tomorrow, Oct 14, with the conclusion of qualifying singles and the start of main singles draw play.
