
Pfister, Linders compete at ITA All-American Tournament

TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore Aaron Pfister and freshman Gijs Linders opened play this past weekend at the ITA All-American Tennis Championships tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma with pre-qualifying and qualifying singles play. Qualifying doubles play begins this afternoon, with the duo scheduled to hit the court at 2:00 p.m.
In pre-qualifying singles play Linders earned a first-round bye, and a second-round victory over Jorge Azuero of Liberty, 7-6 (1), 6-2. Linders then defeated Rifat Bikyakov of Oklahoma State in the third-round match by the score of 6-2, 6-2, before falling to Andre Stenger of Nebraska in the final round 6-3, 6-4. In first-round action of qualifying singles on Monday, Linders fell to Chris Thiemann of Mississippi 6-2, 6-0. Pfister suffered a first-round loss to Dmytro Kovalyov of Hawaii, 6-2, 7-6 (2) in pre-qualifying play.
Pfister and Linders face Mark DeCastro and Thai Tu of San Francisco in first-round doubles play this afternoon.
