Track & Field Finishes Pre-Conference Action at Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Michigan State track & field team finished pre-conference action on Saturday, Feb. 19 with the Silverston Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan. Zack Hill took home top honors for the Spartans in the shot put with a toss of 18.02m.
Joining Hill in the shot put was Brad Wentzel with his second-place mark of 17.00m.
Wentzel also had a top-five finish in the weight throw with his toss of 19.54m, good enough for third place. Jay Gillespie topped Wentzel in the event with a second-place mark of 19.63m.
Todd Atchison was the lone male sprinter for MSU in Ann Arbor today as he ran in both the 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Atchison recorded a 22.61 in the 200-meter and a 50.90 in the 400-meter.
Leslie Aririguzo traveled to Allendale, Mich., for the GVSU Tune-up on Friday, Feb. 18. Aririguzo posted first-place times in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash with times of 8.57 and 8.40, respectively.
The Spartans continue their season when they travel to 2011 Big Ten Indoor Championships on Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 26-27. The men will compete at Illinois in Champaign, Ill., while the women will compete in West Lafayette, Ind., at Purdue.
