Men's Golf Third After Second Round of Pinehurst Intercollegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team is five shots off the lead, currently in third place, after the second round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Saturday at Pinehurst No. 6. The Spartans shot a 13-over par 297 today for a two-day total of 22-over 590.
Junior Chris Mory and sophomore James Ross are tied for 10th at 4-over par 146. Mory shot a team-low 1-under 70 today, bouncing back from a 5-over par 76 yesterday. Meanwhile, Ross posted a 1-over 72 today.
Freshman Gareth Blease matched his opening round score with a 4-over 75 today to sit in a tie for 35th. Junior Dan Ellis, who led MSU in the first round with an even par 71, shot a 9-over 80 today and is tied for 40th. Rounding out the competitive five, sophomore Matthew Moseley is tied for 58th at 13-over 155 (73-82).
Playing as an individual, freshman Conor O'Neil is tied for 35th at 8-over 150, after today's 3-over 74. Also, junior Dave Ellis is tied for 50th at 11-over 153 (76-77).
UNC-Wilmington overtook the team lead today with an even par 284 to sit one stroke ahead of Virginia Tech at 17-over par 585. Eastern Michigan's Casey Olsen is the individual leader by one shot with a 36-hole total of 1-under 141.
The Spartans wrap up the Pinehurst Intercollegiate tomorrow with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
