Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at UK Bluegrass Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf bounced back from the shaky second round to finish sixth at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational on Sunday. The Spartans carded a final round 11-over 295, the third lowest in the field, to finish the 54-hole event at 42-over par 894 (294-305-295).

Juniors Dan Ellis and Chris Mory led MSU, tying for 12th at 6-over par 219. Ellis (69-78-72) posted his best collegiate finish, and a season low score for 18 holes and 54 holes. It was Mory's third straight top-20 finish and fourth of the season.
Sophomore Matthew Moseley tied for 39th with a three round score of 14-over par 227 (76-76-75). Junior Jimmy Dewling was tied for 66th with a 21-over par 234 (75-83-76) in his first competitive event of the season. Freshman Gareth Blease, who withdrew from the first round with an illness, shot back-to-back 78s in his final two rounds.
Auburn held on to its first day lead, winning the 2011 UK Bluegrass Invitational with a 16-over par 868 (287-292-289). The host Wildcats were second, eight shots behind the Tigers. Dayton's Chris Woeste entered the final round in a tie for 15th but shot a final round 4-under 67 to win the individual title by two stroke with an even-par 213 (73-73-67).
The Spartans compete in their last tournament before the Big Ten Championship next weekend when they travel to Champaign, Ill. for the Illinois Invitational.
