EAST LANSING, Mich. - In the four weeks leading up to Midnight Madness, MSUSpartans.com will introduce you to the Spartans through a series of video profiles. The series opens on Sept. 19 with Delvon Roe and closes on Oct. 14 with Draymond Green. In the process, we'll learn about the people wearing the jersey. Today, see how MSU taught Russell Byrd to be mentally tough and how he's trying to find balance in his life.
Spartan basketball fans everywhere know that Michigan State has been to more Final Fours (6) in the last 13 years than any school in the country. We all know about the amazing individual accomplishments and the great success of the program under head coach Tom Izzo. But do we know the story of the Spartan student-athletes? We know the jersey numbers, stats, and height of each guy, but do we know what motivates them or when they fell in love with basketball? So often we see the amazing feats on the court, but forget that these are young men with the same hopes, dreams and fears that we all have. After watching the videos, you'll have a greater appreciation of our Spartan heroes.
