After starting off the indoor season with a successful showing at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open, the Michigan State Track & Field team heads to Notre Dame, Ind. tomorrow to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational at the Loftus Center. In a meet that saw first place performances from veterans Becca Buchholtz (High Jump), Beth Rohl (weight throw), Jay Gillespie (weight throw), and Leslie Aririguzo (women's 60-meter hurdles), it was the Spartan newcomers that made their presence felt with solid collegiate debuts at GVSU.
Freshmen Tori Franklin earned Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in the triple jump while teammate Brittany Lewis took first in the 600-meter run. For the men, DeVantré Whitelow placed first in the 200-meter dash while Jarred Gambrell won the men's long jump in his debut.
