ALLENDALE, MICH. - On the campus of Grand Valley State University, the Michigan State track & field team had several athletes compete unattached in one of the final meets before the Big Ten Indoor Championship.

Day 1
The women's mile had three runners break the 5-minute barrier - with Lindsay Clark placing second (4:49:07), Liz Watson in sixth-place (4:52.18), and Kathleen Landwehr in ninth (4:55.22). The women's 3000 meter run saw sophomores Megan Rodgers and Olivia Sydow take sixth and seventh with times of 9:56.02 and 9:56.61.
In sprints, Junior Chelsea Ross was an eighth-place finisher in the women's 60 meter hurdles (8.77) while freshman Tony Rasch placed fourth with 1:21:71 in the men's 600 meter dash.
Men's distance was led by freshman Caleb Rhynard, who earned fourth-place in the 3000 meter run (8:15.46).
Day 2
Freshman Allie Fox turned in the best performance of the day for Michigan State, placing third in the women's 60 meters (7.82).

Jasmine Branch was a sixth-place finisher in the women's triple jump with an effort of 10.89m (35-08 ¾).
In the women's 3000 meters, Melinda Palinkas earned fifth with a time of 10:31.20. In the men's 3000, Chris Platt placed eighth in a time of 8:46.90 while teammate Andrew Cusmano placed ninth (8:48.69).
Chris Collier was the top Spartan runner in the men's mile, running 4:19.38 which was good for seventh-place.
Michigan State will be back in action next week at the Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., on February 18.
