EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State incoming signee Cam Gibson has been named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason High School All-America Team. Gibson signed a National Letter of Intent with the Spartans in November.
A 6-foot, 175-pound outfielder, Gibson earned first-team 2011 Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) Division 1 all-state honors as a junior after batting .414 with 32 runs, 13 doubles, seven homers and 40 RBIs. He helped lead Grosse Pointe South High School to a district title.
"Cam is a hard-nosed competitor who plays the game the right way," MSU head coach Jake Boss said after Gibson signed his NLI. "He has some power in his left-handed bat, and he runs very well in the outfield and on the base paths. He's a tremendous athlete and has excelled in hockey in the past as a member of the Honeybaked National Championship team. He will bring a competitive fire to Michigan State that will be contagious to his teammates. We're excited for what his future holds here in East Lansing."
