EAST LANSING, MICH. - Jumps and Multi-Events coach Chris Bostwick has been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Great Lakes Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field season. Voting for the award is undertaken by region-specific coaches.
Bostwick, in his seventh year coaching at Michigan State, has had two athletes ranked in the top eight nationally.
At the Big Ten Championships, the Spartans scored 29 points in the jumping events, including a gold medal from Becca Buchholtz in high jump, silver in the triple jump courtesy of Tori Franklin, and a bronze medal in the long jump from Ashley Stacey.
"It is an honor to be recognized by your peers," said Walt Drenth, director of track and field. "His body of work has been fantastic and I'm always impressed with the progress his team makes year after year. Things really came together this season for his athletes and he had them ready to perform at a championship level."
