
Keith Appling Named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Leading MSU with a career-high matching 27 points in the 101-48 dominating win over New Orleans, Michigan State senior guard Keith Appling was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office on Dec. 30. Appling also tied his season high of eight assists, adding five rebounds in the contest. It is the first conference honor of the season for the senior Spartan, and the fourth of his career.
Appling bounced back after a rough past two games, shooting 7-of-10 from the field and a flawless 4-of-4 from three-point range. Individually, Appling leads the conference in 3-point field-goal percentage (.477), ranks second in the conference in assists (5.0 apg) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.6). He also committed just one turnover in his 30 minutes of play against New Orleans.
The MVP of the 2013 Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic, Appling is on the Bob Cousy Award Watch List and was named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50.
