EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team is in 13th place after two rounds at the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans shot a 35-over par 611 (302-309) at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Kampen Course. The final round is set to start at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Freshman Mitch Rutledge led the Spartans on Saturday, sitting in a tie for 23rd, after shooting a 4-over par 148 (71-77). Senior Dan Ellis is tied for 41st with an 8-over par 152 (76-76). Senior Matthew Moseley shot back-to-back 77s and is tied for 46th at 10-over par 154. Also in the lineup for MSU, junior Carson Castellani is tied for 66th with a 13-over par 157 (78-79) and senior Dave Ellis is tied for 77th at 16-over par 160 (81-79).
Iowa is atop the leaderboard after 36 holes at 1-over par 577, and is six shots ahead of No. 34 Illinois. The Hawkeyes' Joseph Winslow is first individually at 4-under par 140.
