EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors has announced that Will Tieman and Wendy Hart are Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductees. Under their leadership as co-owners, the Spartan Sports Network has become the state of Michigan's most listened to college sports network.
Tieman and Hart become the first duo ever to be nominated or elected to the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Combined, they have served in the broadcast industry for over 60 years, 21 of which have been spent in the state of Michigan.
"Congratulations to Will Tieman and Wendy Hart for their induction into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame," said MSU Director of Athletics Mark Hollis. "It's truly fitting that Will and Wendy are inducted as a team. Through their combined efforts, Will and Wendy have enhanced the reach and brand of MSU Athletics through the growth of the Spartan Sports Network."
As a complement to its statewide radio coverage, the Spartan Sports Network provides programming to Spartan fans throughout the day and year through SSN 24/7, available both online at SpartanSportsNetwork.com and through an innovative mobile app. Over the air, SSN is available to 100% of Michigan residents through terrestrial radio stations.
"We are quite proud of Will and Wendy and the Spartan Sports Network, and we congratulate them on their election into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame," said Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon. "Their broadcast skills and accomplishments represent the best of Team MSU!"
In addition to their work with SSN, Tieman and Hart own three commercial radio stations in Michigan: WGHN-AM/FM, Grand Haven and WMPA-FM, Ferrysburg.
As a continuation of their commitment to the state of Michigan, they have produced the national radio network for the Motor City Bowl/Little Caesars Pizza Bowl for 16 seasons and are actively involved with the MAB, Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. The Tieman/Hart partnership has produced and created over 40 nationally and regionally syndicated radio and television series.
In addition to their business interests, Will Tieman has received numerous honors for his announcing work and has been the voice of Michigan State Basketball for 15 overall seasons. Wendy Hart is an award-winning writer and producer.
