Women's Golf Begins Action at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Michigan State women's golf team began action at the Tar Heel Invitational Friday at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The Spartans shot a 13-over-par 301 and are in 16th place.
The elite 18-team tournament features 10 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 25 and nine of the programs competed at the 2014 NCAA Championships, including MSU.
Sophomore Gabby Yurik tied for the best round of the day for the Spartans with a 1-over 73 and is tied for 21st place. Yurik carded a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine with two birdies, and shot a 2-over 38 on the back nine with one birdie.
Jenny Sritragul, who is in the starting lineup for the first time this season, also shot a 73. Sritragul was 2-under through eight holes but shot a 7 on the par-4 ninth hole. She rallied to shoot 1-under on the back nine with eight pars and one birdie.
Freshman Jacqueline Setas is tied for 65th with a 77, while fellow freshman Sarah Burnham and senior Lindsey McPherson each shot a 78.
