Branden Dawson scored 4 points tonight, surpassing 1,000 points for his career. With Bryn Forbes surpassing 1,000 career points last outing, it is only the second time in MSU history that two players have reached 1,000 points in back-to-back games, as Alan Anderson and Paul Davis did it on Feb. 12 & 16, 2005.
MSU held Eastern Michigan to 22.6 percent from the field on 14-62 shooting, the lowest percentage by a Spartan opponent since Nov. 18, 2012, when Texas Southern shot 21.1%. EMU shot 18.2 percent from long range, the lowest by an opponent since Georgetown shot 16.7% (2-12) on Feb. 1 2014.
Bryn Forbes led all scorers with 14 points, the first game of his career that he has led Michigan State in scoring.
Michigan State's 35 defensive boards and 19 made free throws were the most of the season.
Denzel Valentine matched his season-high with eight assists, leading MSU to 17 assists on 20 baskets.
Javon Bess pulled down five rebounds in nine minutes in his first game action for Michigan State.
