EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team holds a 4-1 record so far into its 2014 schedule. In an attempt to "Meet the Spartans," msuspartans.com will feature a student-athlete every week throughout the season. Freshman Emmy Virkus (East Lansing, Mich.) is featured this week. Virkus tallied a 2-2 singles record during fall play. Prior to coming to MSU, Virkus was a four-year letterwinner at Haslett High School, earning three consecutive Division 3 All-State nominees, and compiled a high school singles record of 70-17.

Favorite part about your hometown: Being close to MSU
Reason for coming to MSU: I grew up a Spartan because I'm from here. Everyone in my family went here and because of tennis
Post-school plans: I'd like to go to grad school
How long have you been playing tennis: Almost 10 years
Favorite meal: Mac and cheese, caesar salad, and potatoes

What most people don't know about you: My elbow is double jointed so I can move it in cool ways
