Trice Named National Player Of The Week By USBWA

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected the Michigan State guard Travis Trice as its Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Jan. 11. The USBWA's weekly honor is presented by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.
As the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week, Trice was nominated for the weekly award, which was chosen by a representative of the USBWA board of directors from a list of Division I conference players of the week. This is the sixth season that the USBWA has selected a national player of the week.
In a pair of Spartan victories, he averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds on the road at Iowa and at home against Northwestern. He shot 52.0 percent from the field and 70.0 percent from 3-point range, while posting a 7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Trice opened the week by scoring a game-high 25 points at Iowa. He connected on 7-of-8 (.875) from 3-point range, matching the MSU single-game record for 3-point field-goal percentage. Trice dished out four assists as he notched his third 25-point game of the season.
In an overtime victory against Northwestern, Trice recorded his first-career double-double with a team-high 18 points and 10 assists, while committing just one turnover. He also recorded three steals, while making 8-of-10 shots from the foul line.
On the season, Trice leads the Big Ten in overall assist-to-turnover ratio (4.0) and assists per game (6.1 apg). Through four games, Trice leads the conference in assists (6.8 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (9.0), and 3-point field goals made (2.8), while ranking tied for first in steals (2.3 spg) and tied for second in scoring (18.8 ppg).
