Wollenman Named Academic All-District

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State red-shirt junior Colby Wollenman was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 men's basketball team. The forward from Big Horn, Wyoming, owns a 3.98 overall GPA as a physiology (pre-med) major. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Wollenman has appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 1.3 points and 2.0 rebounds, while shooting .600 from the field. He played a career-high 18 minutes against Kansas, grabbing a career-best five rebounds. He's scored four points in three games this season, including against Duke.
He is joined on the All-District 5 First Team by Butler's Alex Barlow, Western Michigan's Austin Richie, Valparaiso's Alec Peters, and Xavier's Matthew Stainbrook.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
