EAST LANSING, Mich. - The 75th-ranked Spartans rebounded after a slow start on Saturday to notch two wins and improve to 5-1 on the season. The women's tennis team started the day defeating Cleveland State, 5-2. The Spartans capped the afternoon defeating Detroit, 7-0, and improved to 3-0 against in-state opponents. Michigan State won 14 matches on the day.
"Coming out this morning was a little bit of a rough start," said head coach Simone Jardim. "We haven't played in a while; I think we got better as the day went on. I think that Detroit Mercy is a good in-state team. We did a good job overall today. The closer we get as a team and start going in the same direction, I think we can be really good."
