The Bulldogs tied for third in the SEC standings with an 11-7 conference record. Georgia advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament before falling to Arkansas, 60-49.
Friday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between Michigan State and Georgia.
Virginia (29-3) earned the second seed in the East Region and will play 15th-seeded Belmont (22-10). MSU defeated the Cavaliers of UVA in the East Region Semifinal last season in New York City.
The East Regional is set for March 27 and March 29 (Friday, Sunday) at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.
